Film & Entertainment

For the film & entertainment industry, Miami offers the perfect mix with its metropolitan status and miles of white-sand beaches. From Miami Vice to CSI: Miami, Miami-Dade has served as the location for more than 50 feature films, including Ali, Bad Boys, Any Given Sunday, There’s Something About Mary and Out of Sight, and many popular television programs.

Today, Miami-Dade is home to more than 3,000 motion picture and video businesses, as well as production companies, studios, still photography companies, modeling agencies, and talent scouts. Miami-Dade is also home to major facilities for leading Spanish-language broadcasters Telemundo and Univision, as well as a dozen Latin American cable networks. In addition, more than 40 cable networks, including Discovery Channel, HBO Latin America, MGM Networks, USA Networks, MTV, and Walt Disney Television International have chosen Miami-Dade as their springboard into Latin America.

Miami has hosted some of the entertainment industry’s most renowned events, including MTV’s Video Music Awards twice, the Latin GRAMMYS, the American Black Film Festival, the Clio Awards, MTV’s Latin Music Awards, and the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
