Joe Hovancak is Vice President of One Community One Goal and Strategic Planning & Market Development for The Beacon Council. The Beacon Council is Miami-Dade County’s official economic development partnership that focuses on job creation and economic growth by coordinating community-wide programs; promoting minority business and urban economic revitalization; providing assistance to local businesses in their expansion efforts; and marketing Greater Miami throughout the world.
In this role, he has direct responsibility for leading the One Community One Goal targeted industry initiative to grow jobs and investment in Miami-Dade County. He also is responsible for leading The Beacon Council Foundation which is a not-for-profit organization created for economic development.
Hovancak’s broad business experiences reflect successes, ranging from Fortune 100 Corporations to establishing the foundation of start-up companies. His background includes an extensive tenor at AT&T where he was a Sales Vice President responsible for leading a four-state territory as well as leading Comcast’s expansion of their corporate business division into South Florida.
Hovancak is an involved member of the South Florida community. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce; the Board of Directors for the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Committee Board for the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
A native of Pennsylvania, Hovancak received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from East Stroudsburg University, East Stroudsburg, PA.
