"Made in the U.S.A." Continues to Create Jobs and Tax Revenue

“Made in the U.S.A.” Continues to Create Jobs and Tax Revenue

On December 4, U.S. President Barack Obama signed the Export-Import Bank Reform and Reauthorization Act of 2015. After a five-month lapse, the Ex-Im Bank, a national bank to finance loans for exports, is now able to continue to ensure access to competitive export financing for U.S. manufacturers. Elena Mendez, Regional Director of the Ex-Im BANK, attended The Beacon Council’s International Advisory Committee meeting on Dec. 11. Mendez stressed the importance of exports to the U.S. economy and how they create jobs and tax revenue.

The Committee also discussed recent Economic Development Missions and Trade Shows at which The Beacon Council Board Members and staff marketed Miami-Dade’s assets to influential decision makers in various target industries and geographic locations. Events included the SEUS-JAPAN 38th Annual Joint Meeting (Birmingham, AL); CoreNet Conference (Los Angeles, CA); Medica 2015 (Dusseldorf, Germany) and Miami Art Week / Art Basel. This was the first meeting of Fiscal Year 2015-2016 and it was presided by the Committee’s new Chair Andrew J. Markus with Carlton Fields Jorden Burt Law Firm.
