Bob McFarlin

Bob McFarlin is the General Manager of the Miami Herald, el Nuevo Herald and the Bradenton Herald. He also oversees the technology division for The McClatchy Company as the Senior Director of Infrastructure and Security. The McClatchy Company is the parent company of the Miami Herald, el Nuevo Herald and 29 other markets throughout the US.

McFarlin has been with the organization since 1993 where he began at The Sun News in Myrtle Beach, SC. In 1995, he transferred to Knight Ridder Corporate in Miami to build out the centralized financial organization. While most of his professional career has been in the areas of technology and security, McFarlin also serves as a member of the senior leadership team for the corporation. McFarlin’s experience in security stems from his work with various law enforcement agencies across the nation including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Secret Service on various cases; one of which required him to testify on behalf of the U.S. Attorney’s office. He also partnered with the International Olympic Committee to set up and run the operations for the 2006 and 2008 Olympic bureaus onsite for Knight Ridder and McClatchy.

McFarlin is an avid University of Miami Hurricane fan and baseball season ticket holder. He lives in Miami with his wife Martii and their three children; Helene, RJ and Jake.
