Housing Choices for a Growing Community

Miami has housing and lifestyle options for people from all walks of life and a lower cost of living than most other similarly- sized communities. That makes it a great place for both companies and their employees to call home. There’s urban living in Downtown Miami; beachfront access in Miami Beach; suburban comfort in places like Palmetto Bay and Aventura; iconic neighborhoods like Miami Shores and Coconut Grove; ethnic- flavored communities like Little Havana and Little Haiti; and rural homesteads in South Dade.

In every setting, there are a range of amenities and great public and private schools to help families young and old connect and feel at home.

Miami-Dade has a strong and vibrant housing construction market to accommodate the estimated 2% population growth each year (more than 1,000 new people move to Florida every day). The County has taken significant steps to leverage public resources and streamline processes to facilitate the development of affordable and workforce housing. For example, Miami-Dade County is working on providing access to affordable housing and work places along transit corridors with Transit Oriented Developments (TODs) focused around Metrorail stops combining residential, commercial, and housing features. Other creative solutions include offering housing for teachers and school workers at or near their schools to address housing and transportation needs for its growing workforce.
